I am so thrilled! But a little worried. September 9 thru 17th I am entertaining two international guests from England. They are both from Burton-Upon-Trent (the brewing capitol of England), which is a small town. They are both in their late 30's. I know there is a pub/bar in the Northern Liberties area that boasts it is somewhat "English". But aside from that - I would like to take them to a few places that won't overwhelm them, but where they can see a mixture of ages and be able to dance - meet and greet people. Center City is best - because we will have to take cabs.
One man is an artist, the other is from a wealthy family who owns a huge business there. Both are straight. The artist is with me, the weathy one is SINGLE! Both are fringe types, complete with thick accents. Both are very down to earthy, funny and open-minded.
Any suggestions on where to take them and what to show them??? Restaurants, clubs, pubs, events???

If they like beer, you should take them to Monk, on 16th. Fergie's on Sansom, and Ludwig on Sansom. Also they might enjoy a little american dive bar culture try Oscar's, also on Sansom.

Sounds JUST right! if it starts at 9:30 - how late does it stay open till? Do they only serve beer? AND (- sorry for all the questions) (not that it's not worth it) what is the price of drinks/beer during the shows and late night dance parties?

yup, they only serve beer. i believe they get a special license from the city for two weeks. the cabaret stays open pretty late, but not so late you can't go elsewhere after ... like, for instance : www.silkcitydiner.com/ @ 4th & spring garden
